What a start to the year. Last week saw equity markets shrug off the brief shutdown of the US government and worries of a trade war to push prices even higher.

This period of largely synchronized global growth, coupled with low inflation, seems set to continue. In fact, the flow of macro data has been pretty solid across the board and this has been reflected in investors’ enthusiasm for risk assets with global equities hitting record highs again last week.
